Detroit Mercy NEVER did great things! Detroit did, while Mercy failed

Dude's gonna regret this. Not our "Dude", but Brock. It's still relatively rare to be a D-1 athlete in basketball. I wish him well in his studies, though. He gets a free ride with a basketball scholarship or the G.I. bill and that probably factored into his decision.

He was going to be fun to watch - except for two times a year against us. He did so much to get eligible to play it is a bit unexpected he is now not playing going forward plus he was making a significant contribution out there. Even still, seems like a good kid, and of course gets my utmost respect for serving our country.

George Mason guard Kamari Newman is transferring to Oakland. He was offered by Detroit Mercy out of high school.

Also reported today, Novi's Traveon Maddox picks basketball over football, commits to Oakland.

Another Oakland roster defection: Stevie Clark is transferring to LSU Shreveport (NAIA school).

Wonder with Brock and Clark now gone if OU is no longer the overwhelming HL preseason favorite for the #1 spot anymore?

I think they still are. Clark was phased out as the year went on, although Brock is a big loss.

Kampe is not afraid to overload guys with minutes -- I think you'll see Walker / Nunn / Hayes each play 32+ mins per game. The remainder will get taken by Nick Daniels, perhaps some Neely, and any of their host of warm bodies that are their big men. If one of their big 3 go down, then they certainly could face some trouble as their depth has gotten awfully thin with these 2 losses.

That's a huge fall for Clark, who was ranked the #68 player in the country as a high school senior. Couldn't stay out of trouble in OK State, was underwhelming at JUCO, and certainly a disappointment at Oakland.

Take those academics seriously, kids.

Yeah, this is kind of sad about Clark. While I don't absolve him of blame, maturity often comes too late.

Oakland just announced that Julius Palmer will be on the roster for the coming season. He's a JC transfer, 6-9, originally played at Detroit Western International with the Titans' McFolley and Blackshear. Modest stats last year in JC, six points and four rebounds.

Tony Paul of the Detroit News tweets: “Breaking news out of Oakland: I've been told Isaiah Brock -- Army vet who left program over summer -- has returned to practice. He's back.”

No worries. Tony Jones probably had something to do with him coming back.

Excellent, so no excuses if we beat them! Hopefully beat them twice this year!

Didn't Jaleel eat him alive in one game last year?

He did. Brock played hurt they say.
In Greek mythology, the Titans were greater even than the gods. They ruled their universe with absolute power! Well that basketball court out there tonight, that's our universe. Let's rule it like Titans! (with apologies to coach boon)
