To the extent that the Titans were a race of giants, he already is.

He spent just one year at McDuffie School in Mass. This may explain why he has not signed a letter of intent anywhere. He was deemed a long term project in Europe a couple of years ago. Given this background, there may be a bunch of bureaucratic hoops both at UD and the NCAA that must be navigated successfully before a formal announcement can be made. Also, there is the possibility that the young man is seeking an offer from a higher level US college. He has only acknowledged an offer from us. He has not yet tweeted a commitment. It's very clear from his web presence that he or his mentors are engaged in a concerted effort to get him noticed by many schools.

That's good to hear. One of the positives of the Ray McCallum era was the increased funding for campus visits. When a recruit visits UDM everything is first class.

Maybe the young man and his father wanted something uniquely Detroit to eat since they can go to a beer garden any time in Germany. Malik would be an interesting project for Bacari and could flourish in the Horizon League. That would be a good stepping stone for him to achieve a pro career. A left handed 7-footer with outside range - we could play both a stretch 4 and a stretch 5. That would make for an interesting offense.

In Greek mythology, the Titans were greater even than the gods. They ruled their universe with absolute power! Well that basketball court out there tonight, that's our universe. Let's rule it like Titans! (with apologies to coach boon)

I don't know what is normal in terms of a school like ours converting official visits to commitments, but my sense is that we do a pretty good job on these visits and when students come for that visit, we get a high percentage to commit.

I gather Malik's father still lives in Berlin, and was flown in by the school for the official visit. That's a pretty serious commitment for our team. Bacari wants him, and I hope he gets his man.

I remember Eli Holman stating that of the 6 recruits that he hosted, 5 of them committed. He didn't say who he didn't get (I think it was Brandon Wood), but that is a pretty high percentage. During the McCallum era we were always able to get our targets to visit, but for whatever reason we didn't seal the deal on a lot of them. I think that is going to change with B.A. at the helm. Eichler has some tools to work with, he could be a dominate player by his senior season.

Ok, Ok you might be right. However they might have been homesick? Maybe they went to Batch Brewing Company.

Welcome aboard Malik!

You can't teach size, and in the HL his size should come in nice and handy.
