ptctitan wrote:With Eichler, there may be the typical issues of eligibility since the young man played club ball in Germany and Spain for most of the time that corresponds to US high school years. He spent just one year at McDuffie School in Mass. This may explain why he has not signed a letter of intent anywhere. He was deemed a long term project in Europe a couple of years ago. Given this background, there may be a bunch of bureaucratic hoops both at UD and the NCAA that must be navigated successfully before a formal announcement can be made. Also, there is the possibility that the young man is seeking an offer from a higher level US college. He has only acknowledged an offer from us. He has not yet tweeted a commitment. It's very clear from his web presence that he or his mentors are engaged in a concerted effort to get him noticed by many schools.

I gather Malik's father still lives in Berlin, and was flown in by the school for the official visit. That's a pretty serious commitment for our team. Bacari wants him, and I hope he gets his man.

Malik would be an interesting project for Bacari and could flourish in the Horizon League. That would be a good stepping stone for him to achieve a pro career. A left handed 7-footer with outside range - we could play both a stretch 4 and a stretch 5. That would make for an interesting offense.
