Made Tacitus laugh though... so it was worth it.

After reading BA's comments on Wanting a guard, wing, and center. I would expect us to take three of these six players Rashad Williams, Bryce Washington, Seth Millner, Tray Jackson, Amari Kelly, Cory Hightower.

Carrington Mccaskil, 6-6, from Detroit Renaissance High, tweets "Bless to say I've received my second offer from the university of Detroit mercy #GoTitans"

Also, Verbal Commits reports these two Titan offers to class of 2018 SFs, both two-star recruits:

Quinn Blair, 6-6, from Dearborn Divine Child. (Blair also had offers from at least three Ivy League schools.)

Markeese Hastings, 6-5, from Godwin Heights HS, Wyoming, MI.

BTW, Prep Hoops Oregon reported this summer https://www.prephoops.com/2017/07/way-early-6a-top-10/ that Khalil Chatman, son of our Assistant Coach and brother of our presumed starting forward Kameron, has verbally committed to Detroit. Some thoughts:

a) this would not be surprising, but rather anticipated;
b) though as others here have noted, a verbal commitment is not worth the paper it's printed on, so this is hardly a done deal;
c) still, it's better than not having a verbal commitment. At least I think it probably is...;
d) although I haven't seen this reported anywhere else, so it may not even be correct;
e) He has offers from Portland, Portland State, and Montana, all of whom offered over a year ago, i.e. before his junior year. That he hasn't received offers since doesn't surprise or disturb me, because I think (supporting the main story) it has been presumed he will sign with the Titans;
f) Chatman would be a good recruit for us. He's generally listed as a 3-star prospect who was drawing Pac 12 interest before, I think, they concluded he was likely to sign with Detroit. He was First Team All-Conference in the Portland Interscholastic League this year, the best league in the state;
g) Chatman is a 6-7 Forward. Here's a short but nice report on him (scroll down a bit to #5): https://www.buildingthedam.com/2017/4/2 ... -an-eye-on.
h) if he is going to join the Titans, I hope he signs in the early signing period;

In Greek mythology, the Titans were greater even than the gods. They ruled their universe with absolute power! Well that basketball court out there tonight, that's our universe. Let's rule it like Titans! (with apologies to coach boon)

That was to be expected. Duane was in line for some big time scholarship offers. Thanks for the update.

Seems like his stock rose quickly. His rankings haven't caught up to his offers and commitment.

I think it rose the moment he decided to make the commitment to move to California and live with Derek Fisher. :) On an unrelated note, players leaving for prep school is killing MHSAA basketball.

Brandon Wade, a 6-0 guard from Ann Arbor Skyline, has committed to Duquesne. He would have been a nice get for the Titans.

This recruiting thread mentions both Ryan Wade and Brandon Wade, both Ann Arbor Skyline. Are there one or two Wades?

They are brothers. Ryan is class of 2019 and Brandon is class of 2018. We have offered both.

Amari Kelly (6-9, 226, 2-star recruit) committed to Duquesne. He had been offered by the Titans.

Oakland got a commitment from a 6-11, 250-pound center from Nigeria: http://detne.ws/2xx0BhA

We seem to be bumping heads on the recruiting trail a lot with Duquesne lately, not so much with OU.

Seems like the Duquesne connection from Detroit is significant with a certain AAU Team.

It is interesting and curious that both OU and UD have snagged relatively unknowns from out of state (well, unknown to us and unknown on national scale). Plus both schools are going to non-midwest states to try to find talent. Perhaps has to do with alot of the top talent in MI in recent/future years is committing to UM or MSU, or being lured to head out of state to the Duqenses of the world.

Rashad Williams is headed to Cleveland State University. The Titans had reportedly offered the Wayne Memorial High School 6-3 PG.

Rashad Phillips just tweeted “Rashad Williams will be the one of the greatest scorers to ever grace a Horizon league court. Cleveland State just got a future league MVP!”

Williams is coming off of an All-State season in which he averaged 22.0 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 4.1 assists per game leading Wayne to their first ever KLAA Conference championship as a junior.
