Lamar Norman, an in-state guard reportedly offered by the Detroit Mercy at one point, will sign with UTEP.

Saw a tweet from WBB coach Scott saying he was excited to be announcing four LOIs today.

I am out of town and wasn’t able to make today’s Titan luncheon. Perhaps someone who attended can report if MBB recruiting info was discussed.

It was the coach mentioned that we will have 2 guards sign, one 6'7 and another 6'8 One from Ohio another from downs South. They were both accepted into the U, just waiting for the signing ceremonies at the high schools of the LOIs.

Mik, thanks for the info. I'm hoping you can clarify your statement. Are we signing 2 or 4 players (2 guards plus the two tall guys - One of which is for Ohio and one from down south? Or are the 2 tall guys the guards - One from Ohio and one from down south?)

My understanding from talking to BA a couple weeks ago is that the Titans were going to sign two tall recruits with guard skills in the early period. Assume he was talking about Nelson and Hightower.

Chatman is not drawing any high major interest... and there is radio silence on his recruiting process.
He will be a spring guy if we get him. Do we have three or four open spots?

The question is why not? Does he look like a non-qualifier? Is it assumed he's coming to Detroit? (Prep Hoops Oregon said during the summer that he was a Detroit verbal commit, but I've not seen that repeated anywhere else). Do people think he'll play football? (He's a good football player). Or is he just not that good?

We have three players who will be out of eligibility (barring an injury redshirt year): Hogan, Black, and Prince. Isaiah Jones probably needs a waiver to play another year, and I don't know that we'll try to get one even if he wants one. And of course you could have a transfer or two.

Anybody know if we are recruiting Jimmy Bell ? UDBaller mentioned him in the 2017 recruiting thread. We definitely must use one of our last scholarships on a post player. He seems a little tall to play football at 6'11, but he might have a better chance at a professional career on the grid iron than the basketball court. According to rivals he has an offer for football from Akron. Iowa State, Southern Utah, Oakland, Tulsa and UNLV have all offered in basketball. He seems like the kind of player that a P5 school will take a flyer on in late April.

UTEP's coach, Tim Floyd, quit last night after the Miners lost to Lamar.

Lamar Norman Jr. has re-opened his recruitment due to the departure of former UTEP Head Coach, Tim Floyd.

I'm sure the stability with the coaching staff at Detroit Mercy will put us on top of his list.

Detroit Mercy recruit Adrian Nelson scored a career-high 27 points this past Tuesday night as #1 Pickerington Central rolled past Dayton Thurgood Marshall, 90-76.
