Lake signed with Grand Valley. He's a scoring machine (averaged over 36 ppg as HS Sr., over 31 as Jr), and I'm surprised a D-I school didn't pick him up if he can qualify. I don't know if it is easier to qualify at D-II, but I didn't think so. Anyway, he's signed, not just verbaled, so they would have to release him from his LOI. He averaged 17.6 ppg at Schoolcraft this year and has 3 yrs left.

Another guy who played well at Schoolcraft this year is Walt Kelser, over 21 points and 3.5 assists per game.

We just got a verbal commitment today. From Twitter, it looks like BJ Simmons 6'2" PG formerly of Saginaw HS?

"Beyond blessed to say that i have committed to the University of Detroit #GoTitans"

Here's an article from 2016 calling him a possible NBA prospect

https://www.ozy.com/rising-stars/a-futu ... nada/67819

But his stats are very modest at best 5.9 ppg, 4.8 rpg

Former Cedar Hill G BJ Simmons commits to the University of Detroit. Another DFW kid who benefited from a post-grad prep season!
Cedar Hills HS is in Texas. He attended Next Level Prep this past season

A recent post game tweet

Player Spotlight from Game 1:
PG - BJ Simmons is a sleeper. Explosive quick step, can guard, and knock down the 3. Qualifier who is ready to go!

It appears that B.J. Simmons was ranked #78 in Texas as a HS senior and then went prep school in Kansas where he averaged 21.7 PPG and 8 APG at a small prep school.

Thank you Scout. I hope Simmons turns out to be a fine titan. I think the titans should take a look a Ted Mcree Jr., he currently only has an offer from Northern Arizona. He's 6'4 with decent size. I have a rule to not view any current players or potential recruits social media pages, I got the info regarding Mcree Jr. via verbalcommits.

FWIW, saw that Cleveland State was recruiting Simmons a year ago, prior to his decision to go the prep school route.

Barnes went to Athletic Institute/Orangeville Prep in Canada at the same time as Cole Long. If we sign him and he gets admitted, then we would have Canadian players on the roster from the coastal extremes of Canada, BC and Newfoundland.

I don't believe any fan of any D1 basketball program could reasonably ask for more than that.

You mean to sign a recruit that you have offered and then have that recruit admitted into your institution of higher learning?

Thanks for all the info. I guess we have to hope that Simmons makes for a serviceable backup to JJJ and that the kid averaging 5ppg actually is an NBA prospect. Seems this is the best that BA will be bringing in to UDM.

I have it on good authority that BA is actively recruiting two recruits from Mexico. Not only that, they hail from BOTH coasts of Mexico. Stay tuned!

Solon wins 82-78 ending Pickerington Central’s season. Nelson was shut out in the second half, ended the game with 21 points on 9-13 shooting (2-3 from long range), 1-1 from the line, 9 rebounds, 2 steals, 1 personal foul. Looking forward to seeing what he can do next season as a Titan.

Well, I've slept on it. Is it wrong that I'm not excited about Simmons and actually hoping the Canadian kid goes someplace else?

I'm still happy with the additions of Nelson and Hightower. Simmons has the feel of not being able to fill another scholarship with plan A, B or C.

I don't follow recruiting to the extent of others on this board, but I can't say I'm really excited about this class. Nelson looks really good. Hightower will take time to develop. The others? I hope they do well but let's be honest that they're not exactly HL dominating players based on their stock coming in.

I'd give this recruiting class a C as of right now.

Just when you thought this coaching was done for 2018, they’ve been out aggressively recruiting trying to fill the holes left by the departure of CA and Chatman And JJJr, declaring pro.

Per my sources, we have offered two of the top players in the 2018 UDM Intramural league. Taco Dan, 5’11” bruising power forward with a vicious elbow and good hands. We have also offered Djon Onabun, a 5’8” guard with an inconsistent shot and a propensity to jack up shots way early. These two are expected to play major roles on next year’s squad.

I give the staff cudos for pulling this off.
