Commissioner wrote:Look for the Horizon league schedule to drop as early as Wednesday. UIC posted their Horizon games on their website this afternoon. They are at Calihan on February 4 (a Sunday) and the Titans are at UIC on February 19, a Monday.

Conference season begins to shape up-- announced today:
Th. Dec. 28 @ Green Bay
Sat. Dec. 30 @ Milwaukee
Fri. Jan. 5 vs. Wright State
Sun. Jan. 7 vs. Northern Kentucky
Wed. Jan. 10 vs. Cleveland State
Fri. Jan. 12 vs. Youngstown State
Tues. Jan. 16 @ IUPUI
Sat. Jan. 20 v. Oakland
Fri. Jan. 26 @ Wright State
Sun. Jan. 28 @ Northern Kentucky
Fri. Feb. 2 vs. IUPUI
Sun. Feb. 4 vs. UIC
Fri. Feb. 9 @ Oakland
Wed. Feb. 14 @ Cleveland State
Fri. Feb. 16 @ Youngstown State
Mon. Feb. 19 @ UIC
Th. Feb. 22 vs. Milwaukee
Sat. Feb. 24 vs. Green Bay

Here's a great line from Green Bay's schedule release: "A home date with another former Horizon League school, Eastern Illinois,"

Umm, no. It may seem that way, since the Horizon has more or less become the Summit that Green Bay left back in 1994, but Eastern Illinois was never a Horizon League team.

Probably thinking about Northern Illinois, a member of the Horizon for a while before going back to the MAC.

The conference schedule was handed out at the luncheon today, said it will be at DetroitTitans.com this afternoon.

I've edited the post above with the whole schedule.

The conference schedule is favorable. We open with games at Green Bay, which loses 8 of top 9 players from a year ago, and Milwaukee, which has a lot back but finished last in the regular season. Neither is a league favorite. Then we play 5 of 6 at home, ending with Oakland at home on Saturday, January 20. NKU, which is probably the conference favorite along with Oakland, is also at Calihan in that series. By the end of that string, if not sooner, we'll know if we're in contention for anything. After that the Titans play 6 of 8 on the road, and then finish with the Wisconsin schools at Calihan.

In conference play we've got 2 home Saturday games, 2 home Sunday games, 3 home Friday games, and 1 home game each on a Wednesday and Thursday. I realize that with Butler, Loyola, and Valpo gone, Oakland is the only conference team that excites me much. We gotta win those 30 games two or three years in a row and get outta here. How hard can that be?

Oakland home on a Saturday is a big plus.

Spoke to one of the marketing folks at the luncheon. He said look for a press release in October that comprehensively announces promotions for home games. Expect lots of theme nights with ties to the city of Detroit and community groups.

Best fan road trip opportunity: @Wright State, Friday, February 8 coupled with @Northern Kentucky, Sunday, February 10. Spend Saturday in Cincinnati.

Only one common home date for MBB and WBB: the women host Milwaukee the same day the men host Oakland (January 20).

If you're up for it you can drive to the Grand Ole Opry and spend Saturday in Nashville or, if they're at home, watch the Predators play

If you're that excited about going to Nashville, we play two games there in November.

I miss Saturday games at UIC and Loyola. We had some good crowds in the Ray Jr days, both in fans from Detroit on the bus and Chicago area alumni coming out.

Tip times for all but one of the Calihan Hall games have now been set:

http://detroittitans.com/schedule.aspx?path=mbball

Still TBD, game time for January 5 matchup with Wright State, will be dictated by ESPN.

Also, the schedule indicates that the 20th reunion for the 1997-98 team will be celebrated on January 20 (coinciding with the Oakland game).

The Titans' game at UCLA will be broadcast on the PAC 12 Network:

Does anyone know the access potential or methodology for watching the game in Detroit given the PAC 12 Network broadcast?

Our cable provider is Spectrum. They have a Sports Pass option which includes the PAC12 network. The cost is $10.00 per month, but you can order the pass for one day and cancel it the next. So, the cost is roughly $.33 to watch the UDM/UCLA game. I have done this in the past to watch an SEC game. Worked out really well.

As the Titans have just one exhibition game scheduled, they have the option to scrimmage a D-1 opponent. Heard it will be a contest with Akron on the road. Don't know the exact date but it will be sometime prior to the Wayne State game. By NCAA rule, those type scrimmages are closed to the public and schools can't release stats or score, so we may not hear a lot about how things went.

ESPN's Jeff Goodman confirms the "secret scrimmage" vs Akron. It will be played 10/28 in Akron

Akron picked last in the MAC East by Three Man Weave. Now coached by John Groce, who coached Illini last year.

In Greek mythology, the Titans were greater even than the gods. They ruled their universe with absolute power! Well that basketball court out there tonight, that's our universe. Let's rule it like Titans! (with apologies to coach boon)
