Would it potentially help our RPI next season if the HL did not expand and we played 16 games in league and 14 non-league against potentially higher-rated teams? Or does the RPI give more weight to conference games? Does anyone know?

All D1 games receive the same weight in RPI formula, i.e., conference games count same as non-league matches.

At this late stage in the calendar, very hard to pick up additional games that will help RPI. More than likely Horizon teams may have to scramble and perhaps add D2 opponents to their schedules to replace the two dates they would have had with Valpo. There might be some exceptions like the Titans' late negotiations with UCLA for a guarantee game.

No comments on our playing UCLA? The Titans are 1-0 all-time v. UCLA. That was a pretty big win that the Coach and his top assistant will remember.

It will be a nice trip to Los Angeles and good whipping. In 2012 UCLA was paying $45,000 for opponents to travel to Pauley-Pavilion and get pulverized. Here is an article about "buy" games that I posted in 2012.

Just 45K? That stinks, even in 2012. Hell, Presbyterian got $85K to play at Marquette in 2009! I would hope we get a minimum of $90K for this.

Bacari told dennycrane and myself that we will be paid $90,000. He told us this at the last outdoor roundball luncheon in May. Bacari said we will take a beating for this money-and use it for the Italy trip which will cost around $130,000

One reason why Long Beach State would have played for the smaller sum would be the lack of travel expenses given the geographic closeness of the two schools.

Did I miss something?- is the team coming to Italy this year? I live in Cogozzo, Italy, near Parma and Bologna. It would be awesome to see them over here.

That is good enough for me. I will stay here another year. I hope they get to play in MIlan or Bologna.

I think its great we are playing UCLA. I don't know if I can go at this point, however, I'd love to. To see Pauley. And all the history. Wow! I agree that we are UCLA's cannon fodder. It is what it is. We'll get the cash pay out. And, if it funds an overseas trip, to me it seems worth it.

More men's college-hoops rumblings: WMU, already with a four-year deal to play Oakland, is working on a contract with Detroit Mercy.

Add UCLA -- great experience for the kids, good payday for our program, minimal change to get the W. I do support the add of this game.

Add WMU -- I think this is another great idea. It would conceivably replace one of the respectable mid-majors we schedule each year that doesn't really move the needle when it comes to publicity, local attention, etc. Another good idea to add to the schedule..

Oakland becomes the first HL school to release its full non-conference slate. They've got 2 Non-DI games (Rochester and Kalamazoo, both after January 1), plus RPI killer Chicago State at home. Altogether they have 8 home, 6 road, and 1 neutral site game (MSU). They play Western on the road and Eastern H&H.

I was hoping OU would play a non D1 game against one of the state penitentiaries. Would help Crooked Greg with recruiting.

Probably. Note that we get 15 non-conference games this year.

I believe the Western Michigan game is pretty much a done deal.
