Lecrone has raided the Summit League so many times, that there is nothing left for him there except IPFW.

In Greek mythology, the Titans were greater even than the gods. They ruled their universe with absolute power! Well that basketball court out there tonight, that's our universe. Let's rule it like Titans! (with apologies to coach boon)

Long article on Grand Canyon's thriving basketball program. http://www.espn.com/mens-college-basket ... ter-desert

Grand Canyon would have immediately boosted the HL Conference RPI and average attendance; given us a program of rapidly growing hoops prestige rather than another Summit also-ran; guaranteed players and potential recruits around the league a game a year in front of 7500 fans in conference play, and a trip to the Grand Canyon. Sadly, the Horizon missed the boat on whatever chance it might have had to add Grand Canyon.

Agree that GCU would have been a fun school to add, Commish, but how would that make sense geography-wise? All the current schools in the league are bunched up in the midwest, and then you'd just have one random team in the Mountain time zone? Woulda been interesting, for sure. More than the add of IUPUI.

Grand Canyon finally reverting to nonprofit status after a series of hiccups. Good news for them. Complicated stuff, as they will rely heavily on online degree programs for revenue. Purdue is similarly creating Purdue Global (buying Kaplan and renaming it) which will offer sub-par online educational programs and diminish the degrees of all of its real alumni.
Detroit Mercy does not provide public comment on internal personnel issues!

No realignment news to report per se, but saw that frequently mentioned possible Horizon expansion candidate IPFW has officially rebranded as Purdue University Fort Wayne:

In a move with implications for Titan lacrosse, the MAAC announced today that St. Bonaventure is joining the league as an associate member for that men’s sport:
