I think, Moose, that if I messed up my life and found myself at OU, I might turn to drugs as an escape as well.

With the pre-trial hearing we should get more information. We might get an indication if the drug lord professor is willing to make a deal with prosecutors. I would think he'd take a good deal if they offer him something fair, although that would definitely mean prison time. This is one of those cases where he is guilty as hell and the circumstances that will probably come out at trial will just make him look much worse.

I think OU has to be hoping he does take some kind of deal. If he goes to trial it will sensationalize it and get a lot more press coverage (covfefe, if you will). A trial might mean testimony by OU students who detail how he used them to sell drugs and partied with them on drugs inside his home. Plus, it seems highly probable, he was sexually involved with some of these students. That makes the story a lightning rod for reporters.

You know, I'd think this is a lot funnier if I didn't have to spend so much time shopping for ketamine now. It used to be one could just make the short drive to Rochester.

This is the last weekend before the pre-trial hearing for OU drug professor. I've been thinking, maybe this case will blow up even bigger. For instance, what if the prof had OU chemistry students making the drugs? With school equipment? Breaking Bad fans know what I'm talking about. But, I then realized, OU chem students probably can't even cook poptarts, let alone freaking Ketamine.

At any rate, you gotta believe this guy is thinking about making a run for it. I guess it depends how much cash he has laying around, but if he does have a cool million or two it might be his best option to try to acquire some fake docs and flee for Central America. He's guilty AF and if prosecution shows up Monday with more damning evidence he might not get another chance.

Have a nice weekend, professor!

This guy must be a congenital idiot. Hosting parties for college students? Nope, that kind of thing doesn't get around. After all, aren't college students usually known for their discretion?

That said, if the good prof wanted to use ketamine or cocaine in the privacy of his own home, I wouldn't lift a finger to stop him. As the official Christo-anarchist of Titans basketball, I believe that it's his body to do with as he sees fit without my approval. Not that I approve, mind you. I just don't think it's the government's business to be a nanny to a sovereign individual. Way too much of that going on already. But that debate is for another day.

Of course I also believe that OU, or any employer, has a right to throw him out of a job if he's unwilling to abide by their drug policy. Or any morals clauses in his contract.

But pushing junk to his students is mindboggling. He may be the ditziest drug baron I've ever heard of...and that takes some doing. I'd give him a $25 fine for manufacturing and distributing and a life sentence for stupidity.

Latest news article: http://www.theoaklandpress.com/general- ... or-hearing

Nothing new except it states the cops forced their way in with a warrant in hand.

I wonder if this guy will get ESPN3 in prison? It would be a shame for him to miss those OU v. IUPUI games.

Here's another article with video, including an interview with Professor Ketamine himself outside the courthouse. Guilty AF!

http://www.clickondetroit.com/news/defe ... about-case

Best quote regarding the story so far:

"Oh my goodness ... ketamine? I was thinking like Adderall or weed, or something. That's a big jump. Wow," said student Nichole Hill.

No press covfefe about the OU drug prof lately. Hopefully things heat up at trial in the next month or two.

Meanwhile, I wonder if OU will make this guy an offer to be Dean of their medical school?: http://www.chronicle.com/article/Medica ... _hp_latest

What is with these guys from California? First, Oakland, and then LA. Nevertheless, the Dean is quite the party animal.

Not enough reporting on OU druggy professor IMO. The latest article says that he failed to get his case dismissed: http://www.theoaklandpress.com/general- ... -drug-case

I think the press will really pick it up once the trial begins. That is scheduled to begin in January. That's bad news that we have to wait so long, but good news that we can use it to rip on OU during conference play.

If you get called for jury duty you know what to do.

This is the 1st Oakland thread I could find - I didn't want to start a new one for it (Plus I knew it would make Tacitus happy it was back on top of the board) - Kampe says he'll take LiAngelo Ball - brother of Lonzo, who was arrested in China and recently left/was pulled out of UCLA by his father, LaVar

This deserves a new thread. I thought this was a joke and that you created a fake article. I even went to Kampe's twitter to make sure. Unreal. Shameless.

1) I wouldn't want him there re: LiAngelo. LaMelo? Talent probably worth the circus.
2) I guess I'm not surprised anyone would be throwing stones over this, but seriously?

Are you kidding? We should sign him up. We have already had an AD sex scandal, players punching a kid at a party, coaches filing suit against the University, a Head Coach suspended and lots of other stuff that I won't bore you with by mentioning. None of these "news stories" put one fan in a seat. The Ball kids would add 2000+ fans to every game, maybe more. The Titans would be in the news every night (Lavar will make sure of that himself). Most of you are too young to remember what it was like when Spencer Haywood was at U of D. Media was at every game. Lots of people came just to see him play.

If you want some money to upgrade the program, the Ball kids would be a quick way. I know this would be a huge distraction, but it would put lots of money in the coffers of the Athletic Department. Today's news - having a suspended coach and a team that will be lucky to win 8 D-1 games is only going to sell to sell 35,000 seats. Get the crazy Dad and either of his sons and you sell 100,000 seats. It will add $500,000+ in revenue every year for the Department.

No morals involved in this statement, just money.

I heard a troubling rumor from I source I cannot divulge. Apparently, someone looking suspiciously like our MIA Commissioner is coming out of academia to represent the OU professor. It would explain his disappearance. I'm troubled, I'll have you know.

This case is a Doug Anderson slam dunk for the prosecution. Unless there are some admissibility issues with evidence.

We have our problems, for sure. We have an Athletic Program in complete disarray, led by a MBB program that is becoming painful to watch. We have a MERCY re-brand that has proven to be ineffective and a complete dumpster fire. Our HC served a 7 game suspension (or whatever they want to call it) for telling a player to ... you know. BUT, at the the end of the day, we can all be proud that our faculty members have not been accused by the DA's office of running a drug house and giving Class 3 narcotics to students. Hooray for us!

Yes, my friends, the OU drug lord professor trial begins in two weeks. Sadly, I look forward to following the trial more than the remainder of the Titan season. Latest news:

Did a former Oakland University business professor hold parties with students and other young adults at his home, and supply drugs to them?

That will be for a jury to decide when Joseph Schiele heads to trial Jan. 18 before Oakland County Circuit Judge Cheryl Matthews.

Schiele, 39, faces seven felony counts for possession, delivery and manufacture of controlled substances, and possession of a firearm in commision of a felony. Penalties on conviction are up to seven years in prison and/or $10,000 fine. Schiele is also charged with maintaining a drug house, a 2-year misdemeanor.

Schiele, a Canadian citizen, was in the United States on a work visa which has since expired, according to university officials. That put an end to the compensation he was receiving while on paid administrative leave following his arrest last spring.

Two young adults who reportedly frequented parties at Schiele’s house testified during a preliminary exam that drug use and underage drinking occurred there. They’ve been given immunity.

An investigation into Schiele’s alleged illegal partying at his home on Indianside Road in Oakland Township was launched after two people identifying themselves as non-students tipped off the University Police Department in 2016. The tips were turned over to the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff’s deputies searched Schiele’s home last February. His attorney later argued there was no probable cause for the search warrant, but Matthews disagreed.

Ah yes, the parties at Schiele's pad. I sure miss them...the ones I can remember, that is. Sharing a blunt with Kampe is a highlight of my life. Those were the days. If I were on the jury, I'd exercise jury nullification or whatever they call it. I mean, isn't this what they mean by "higher education"?
