in today's Detroit News (Monday edition) Tony Paul mentioned that Roger passed away. Below is the excerpt followed by the link to the article in case the Buysse family would like a copy of it.

Longtime Detroit Mercy donor Roger Buysse, who was particularly fond of the softball program, has died at the age of 93.

Thanks for the kind words, everyone.

We had Roger's funeral today, and among the 100+ in attendance were (and please forgive me as I will not have everyone from U of D): President Garibaldi, Robert Vowels, Bacari, Mickey Barrett, John Hitchens, Mike Miller, the VP of Advancement Arnold D'Ambrosio, Titanmac, Bob Rogo, Vito and Amelia, Jack S. and others. We ended the mass with a military flag cermony/taps, and I lost it. Both of my daughters read from scripture. I hope we honored my Dad appropriately.

And others who were there yesterday at the wake included the Caufield Clan, Vic Memenez and his wife, Brad Kinsman and his wife, Nancy Williams, about 6 girls from the softball team and others...

Tom, buddy, hang In there. I went through this last summer. No matter how old they are, no matter how well they lived their lives, it hurts a lot when your parents pass. When they are the kind of fathers who loved you, it absolutely breaks the heart. I went by the cemetery this evening on the way home from work, as a matter of fact, and when I see my Dad's headstone, it still hardly seems possible. And it still stings. A lot. You're in my thoughts tonight. Again, God bless to you.

Tom,

I am sorry I could not be there. I wouldn't worry about you honoring your dad appropriately. I am certain you did! RIP Roger.

Tom - Sorry that I missed your Dad's funeral. Titan Mike texted me, but I was on vacation about 9 hours from Detroit.

Roger was a humble, gracious and giving man. He was, simply, "a man for others". I am certain that you honored him appropriately.

God bless you and your family during this difficult time.
