Not directly Titan-related (thankfully), but a story hit the news today about a major scandal and Federal indictment involving a number of big-time college basketball programs:

Is this what finally brings down Pitino?

It will be interesting to see all that comes out of this. It is a shame that this is the current landscape of college basketball. I'm aware of a player who attended a major school not named as a one-and-done several years back. When a friend asked his parents why he chose to go to that school, their response was "because they gave us more money than the other schools". That stuff makes it tougher and tougher to ensure "ESPN 30-for-30: March of the Titans" ever gets made. :(

Whew! I'm certainly happy now that when the school did the name change we didn't opt for University-6 as an homage to our location. Dodged a bullet there.

University-7 fits the description of Miami U of FL.

On the other hand, we are an Adidas school ... or were last year.

Are we really an "Adidas School" though? I'd argue not. We wear adidas, sure. But, I don't believe we have a standing long term contract where adidas gives us free gear AND money to wear the brand. We are an adidas school in the same way I'm an adidas runner when I buy adidas running shoes at the outlet mall.

We probably have a deal similar to the one that Eastern and most other MAC schools. We are allowed to purchase Adidas gear at wholesale prices, and they probably give us free shoes for the mens basketball team.

I hope that is the case. I recall season ticket press releases in which the university states that season ticketholders can buy the university's official Adidas gear at discount prices.

Green Bay is an Adidas school and announced that it had signed a 7 year exclusive deal with Adidas. Also, NKU signed a similar deal with Adidas in March 2016 across all of its sports. UIC and UW-Milwaukee are also Adidas.

Last year, IUPUI, Wright State, Cleveland St., Youngstown St & Oakland were Nike.

So, the HL is split evenly between the two companies.

I sure hope so. At one point I referred to Dickie V as Teflon. I apologize. Vitale is positively Velcro when compared to Pitino. It's like the whole world knows he's a crook but he always skirts the big trouble.

By the way does anyone know why Pitino is nicknamed "The Other White Boy Rick"?

Maybe Oakland will hire Pitino as an assistant or head coach? They love giving second chances!

At just completed press conference, it was announced that Pitino is on unpaid administrative leave. Steve Pence, Pitino's attorney, told the Louisville Courier-Journal Wednesday that the coach has been "effectively fired." According to his contract, Pitino must be given 10 days notice before any firing can be official.

There's SO much money sloshing around college basketball, especially as kids are eyed to be on the cusp of making the pros -- where the seriously big dollars are made. Hitch your wagon to a player and your life can be changed, and thus people are tempted enough to take chances and cut corners.

Nike Grassroots has just been raided.

I have heard that Louisville has removed Bowen from the team as well.
