Titans96 is the first to come in with a season record below .500. You can never be negative if you want your name on the prestigious Commissioner's Cup. I think the winner in each of our first three years has been the most negative predictor. Although the Cup judges do award "Moose Points" for optimism.

Not So Smart, where are you?

It's just a gut feeling, but if JJ Jr. is the leading scorer this season, I think that our final record will be poor. Hoping that he can give us 8-10ppg as 6th man... and we finish in the top 2 in the Horizon.

I looked back to November and baller had the first realistic predictions for the year, at least he thought they were at the time. He said 21-10 for the regular season record and 12-6 for the HL record. With benefit of seeing the results of 11 games, baller's numbers reversed are what I'm going with, 10-21 and 6-12. I have no interest in qualifying for the Commissioner's Cup but that's what it looks like. Our talent level is better than last year but the results aren't there, even against beatable mid-majors. Sorry.

Can't say I disagree with you on your take. I still think we could potentially get to 8-10 or 9-9 in the Horizon just based on how bad the league teams have looked so far. I'm actually floored that the team has looked this clueless at both ends of the floor this season.

In a sad year all-around, our picks were pretty sad compared to past years. The over-optimism especially stands out--all but 1 entrant--the relentlessly negative Titans96--predicted the Titans to have a winning record, and even he was 6 games too optimistic; over half predicted an HL tournament title.

The scoring is basically 5 points for being right or closest, 3 for next closest, 1 for third closest. This year's results in the Fourth Annual Commissioner's Cup:

1. What will be the Titans final regular season W-L record (31 regular season games)?
Actual: 8-23
5 Points: Titans96 (14-17)
3 Points: Commish (16-15); PTC Titan (16-15)
1 Point: HSScout (17-14); UDFan83 (17-14)

2. What will be the Titans final regular season conference W-L record (18 games)?
Actual: 4-14
5 Points: Titans96 (7-11)
3 Points: Commish (9-9)
1 Point: PTC Titan (10-8)

3. What place will the Titans finish in the conference regular season standings?
Actual: 10th
5 Points: Commish (5th); Titans96 (5th)
3 Points: HSScout (4th); Rogobob (4th)
1 Point: PTCTitan (3rd); UDBaller (3rd); UDFan83 (3rd)

4. How far will the Titans advance in the Horizon League Tournament?
Actual: first round
5 Points: Titans96 (2nd round)
3 Points: UD Baller, Tacitus, HSScout (Semi-Finals)
1 Point: Commish, RBJ, RogoBob, PTCTitan, Kirky (finals)

5. Which 5 Titans will start the most games?

4 points: RBJ, Titans '96, RogoBob, PTC 4, UDBaller, Tacitus, NCTitan, UDFan83, Commish, HSScout, UDMike, Kirky

6. Who will be the Titans leading scorer per game?
Actual: Chatman (5 points)/Allen (3 points)/McFolley (1 point)
5 Points: UD Baller; UD Mike; Rogobob
3 Points: Moose, NCTitan, UDFan83, HSScout, PTC Titan, Kirky
1 Point: Tacitus

(everyone else picked McFolley, who was 4th on the Titans)

9. Who will be the Titans leader in blocks per game?
Actual: I. Jones & Long (5)/ Prince (3)/ Chatman (1) (Note I Jones did not qualify by playing in enough games but if he had played enough games with zero more blocks he still would have led team, so we will award 5 points for both Jones and Long, 3 for Prince, 1 for Chatman)

5 Points: UD Baller; PTC Titan
3 Points: Kirky; NC Titan
1 Point: Moose, Tacitus, RBJ

10. Who will be the Titans leader in steals per game?

3 Points: NC Titan

11. Who will be the Titans leader in field goal percentage (min. 5 attempts per game)?

Congrats, Baller!

Surprisingly enough, my prediction is Rick Pitino. If it were anybody else, I'd think they'd be in place by now.

If we are pushing May and the end result is a coach we could have easily had in place prior to the signing period, that would be a little frustrating.

The ineptness of our decision makers has cost us at least 2 recruiting classes and some good players and a lot of fans. I am not sure there are any Mid-Major programs out there that can survive a similar handicap. Due to the delay I feel anyone other than Pitino will not have a chance at success.
