Saturday, February 17:
Non-Conference Opponents:
Northern Illinois 75, Western Michigan 67. WMU drops to 15-12.
UCLA 86, Oregon 78 (OT). Aaron Holiday led the Bruins (19-8) with 29 points.
Virginia Tech 76, Georgia Tech 56. The Hokies are 19-8. With a #57 RPI, I don't think they're quite in the field, yet.
St Louis 72, Richmond 66. St. Louis is 15-12 and has won 5 of 6.
East Tennessee State 72, Western Carolina 61. ETSU is 23-5.
Murray State 75, Tennessee Tech 65. Jonathan Stark had 30 for Murray State (22-5). He's got 117 points in his last 4 games.
Ball State 99, Toledo 71. Toledo (19-8) is 11-2 in its last 13 games, with both losses to Ball State (18-9).
Fort Wayne 84, North Dakota State 72. Fort Wayne is 18-12.
Seattle 73, New Mexico State 63 (OT). Seattle is 19-9 after upsetting the Aggies (22-5).
Sam Houston State 86, Houston Baptist 78. Baptist (6-21) is our only D-I non-conference opponents below .500.
Madonna 72, Siena Heights 67. Siena Heights finishes the season 12-16.
Other Games of Interest:
Eastern Michigan 72, Central Michigan 67. James Thompson had 22 points and 14 rebounds, his 19th double-double this year for EMU (16-11).
#2 Michigan State 65, Northwestern 60. It's been a disappointing season for Northwestern, but maybe, just maybe, a win over MSU could still move them toward an NCAA bid. The Wildcats (15-13) jumped out to a 43-16 lead with about 4 minutes left in the first half. From there on it was all MSU, including a 38-11 second half. The Spartans (26-3) have won 10 straight.
#3 Villanova 95, #4 Xavier 79. Nova thrashes the Musketeers in Cincy. This may have been a battle for a #1 seed next month.
Baylor 59, #7 Texas Tech 57. Baylor (17-7) still trying to punch a dance card.
#9 Gonzaga 81, Pepperdine 67.
South Carolina 84, #10 Auburn 75. The Auburn express takes a pause.
#13 Kansas 77, #20 West Virginia 69. Kansas (21-6) moves into a tie for first with Texas Tech in the Big 12. The Jayhawks have won or shared 13 straight Big 12 regular season titles.
#14 North Carolina 93, Louisville 76.
#15 St. Mary's 73, Portland 61. Jock Landale had 21 points and 10 rebounds for the Gaels ((25-4).
Georgia 73, #18 Tennessee 62.
Arkansas 94, #21 Texas A&M 75.
Texas 77, #23 Oklahoma 66. Oklahoma's collapse continues--they've lost 5 straight.
#24 Nevada 93, Utah State 87.
Valparaiso 77, Bradley 64. Valpo (14-15) outscored the Braves (18-11) 21-4 over the final five minutes.
Marquette 90, Creighton 86.
Butler 69, Providence 54.
Kentucky 81, Alabama 71. I listed this game because you rarely see Kentucky take to the court unranked.
Notre Dame 84, BC 67.
Old Dominion 82, UTEP 33. Not a misprint.
