The Detroit News’ Tony Paul files a report on the current status of Detroit’s college team:

“Detroit Mercy spun its wheels in Bacari Alexander’s second season”

Fairly accurate account of the debacle that was 2017/18. Paul seems to put too much emphasis on JJJ over McFolley, similar to PTC or our current coaching staff. Other than that, not much to argue about.

JJ Sr. won 4 out of 7 games he coached. BA won 4 out of 25. JJ is not the answer, but that is slightly interesting/amusing/sad.

In the article BA talked about things to consider when you are building a program and transitioning a program. BA had a decent foundation to build on, and programs are always building. I have not seen, and do not see, him building anything. And what is he transitioning from and to, mediocre to poor?

That article was depressing. I'm starting to think we might not get an at-large bid on selection Sunday.

That gives me an idea. Anyone can organize a post-season tournament. Remember the Vegas 16--er, 8? How about we organize the Consolation 8? We'll take like 8 of the worst teams in the country, and bring them together for a season ending tournament. Who wouldn't want to see Chicago State duke it out with Bryant? Even better, this could be a tournament in which losers advance to the next round.

Unfortunately, while we'd be on the bubble for selection, we probably won't get in unless the field is expanded to about 32 teams. There are some really bad teams out there. In that regard, our win over Houston Baptist would cost us dearly when the selection committee considers bubble teams.

I like the idea of the losers advancing. The champion should be relegated to D2 like in European soccer leagues.
