His first college season was 2014-15. Under the "five years to play four seasons" rule this is his final year of eligibility and if he transfers he has to sit.... If he were a grad student he could play right away, but on their roster he's listed as a junior.

Damn, that sucks. But he doesn't need to sit out if he graduated/graduates by August, right?

Not sure, but I believe when a head coach leaves, that school’s incoming recruits are free to move without having to sit out a year. That will be the case with Nelson and Hightower who originally signed with UDM but can play in 2018-19 because BA left.

Rogo, what you are referring to is a recruit being released from his LOI before he has taken a class. That's different than an established roster player transferring. Reed played for Texas Southern last season, so he would have to sit unless he graduates this summer (which is hard for a junior to do). A player cannot follow a coach who leaves without red-shirting. He graduates and is immediately eligible. He is listed as a junior on the roster last year because he was using his 3D year of eligibility.

The TSU roster indicates that Reed was a R-Jr. this past season, therefore, it's possible he has/will graduate this Spring or Summer.

I am usually against one year players, but our roster is so decimated that I would take Reed in a heartbeat.
