Basketball Times Mid-Major columnist tweets:

"Home-run hire by @detroittitans in Mike Davis. Led @TXSOTigers to 4 NCAATs in 6 yrs. Won at IU & UAB. Will turn around @DetroitMBB, too."

Son coming as well...

And his whole staff from TSU, I like that alot. It means he's not rebuilding or starting from scratch on that front. They can continue humming along in terms of operations, roles, recruiting, etc.

Coincidentally, one of the assistance coaches is Shyrone Chatman.

Agreed, but he will have to add someone from Detroit area in my opinion or Detroit coaches wont like it.

Davis already has a native of Detroit on his staff, Tim Waller. Who was an assistant at Central and Western and is Davis's Director of Basketball Operations.

Is he going to have one son as Assistant Coach and another as player on the team?

I thought perhaps one of Davis’ staff might remain at Texas Southern to serve as the interim coach for the coming season. At least from I’ve read thus far, that does not appear to be the case.

From DN Tony Paul: “Mike Davis' deal at Detroit Mercy is a five-year contract. Believed to be $400,000 a year or more.”

I don't care what your conference, if you can average 23 ppg you can play.

But Jefferson would have to sit a year and has already used a redshirt year, so barring some unusual circumstance he would lose a year of eligibility if he followed Davis to Detroit. Might make more sense as a grad transfer in a year.

We could play super-super-small ball by having both Jefferson and JJJ in at the same time!

What if any impact any of the new rules have on any potential transfers?

Weren't there similar rumors about BA's contract? With a wildly high salary?

Yes, and although I know no details, a 7 year in this case with other stipulations would not be surprising. This we hope will be his last stop in coaching.

Per Twitter:

Mike Davis told me he's bringing his staff from Texas Southern to Detroit Mercy. He hasn't spoken to Jermaine Jackson.

AD Robert Vowels said the coaching staff is 100 percent Davis' call.

Thankfully we can put that theory to rest. This is what I heard prior to today.
