Isiani

OK, I wasn’t paying close attention yesterday and need to do a reality check. I thought that Isiani was dressed for the first half of the game yesterday, but was not for the second half. Did that really happen? If so, does anyone know what happened

No, that did not happen. He was in jeans and a red polo all night.

He is the one guy I am really looking forward to seeing play though.

I heard yesterday that Isiani may be eligible after the Titans play six games. Apparently he played that number of games for one of the international teams he was on, hence the NCAA-imposed waiting period. Don’t know how true that is, but we’ll know soon.

I guess we’ll know by Wednesday but I’m skeptical that we’ll see him or Curry until next year which is too bad.

i'm in agreement as concerns curry. not sure what to make of the isiani issue? if he's suspended for six games that seems concrete enough?

Doesn’t coach have a radio show tonight? I get these are sensitive cases dealt by the NCAA and he can’t say very much. But I think if a player has been officially cleared to play by a certain date coach can make that public. The Curry hold up I can understand. The Isiani holdup is more perplexing. I understand he played for his national team and there was some issue? Lots of guys play for their national team! If this was a 5 star Duke recruit that played for a national team you can be sure the NCAA would have resolved everything by October. Tired of mid majors being jerked around.

Not a suspension from what I’ve heard, rather there’s an eligibility issue due to some games he played for an international team. We’re not waiting for a NCAA decision, just for the waiting period to play out, at least that’s my understanding.

I heard from AD Vowels (not to be confused with AD Antoine Davis!) that the waiting period will be either 6 games or 1 year and 6 games. Either/or. So if we don’t see him Weds we won’t see him until game 7 next year where he will still have 4 years of eligibility (less 6 games).

Oh I’m sure we’re doing all we can with the NCAA to get him eligible. The question is, can anything be done?

Based on what's been seen in practice; can Willy be effective playing on the inside and also score from midrange and on occasion from behind the arc?

Coach just said on the radio show that Isiani can really shoot and he goes tit for tat with Antoine at practice. Nothing said about eligibility or timeframe.

Was there a Q&A and nobody bothered to ask about either player?

Dan Hasty asked all the questions. I don’t believe I heard them say they were taking calls tonight. Hasty did a great job. I wish he would have asked coach point blank about Isiani/Curry status but maybe that would be inappropriate. Hard to believe coach would say all those nice things about Isiani if he thought Isiani would never play for him.

I don’t see how Isiani is any different than Davide Moretti (Texas Tech) who was cleared to play by NCAA immediately despite playing in a junior league in Italy: https://basketball.realgm.com/player/Da ... mary/54312

I just spoke with Isiani and asked him if he is playing this year. He told me that they are waiting to hear from the NCAA and that we should know within two weeks.
