Kenpom Rankings and Beating Ohio

Postby Shags-DC » Mon Nov 26, 2018 12:27 pm

As of today's 2019 Pomeroy College Basketball Ratings, the Titans are at #271. This is despite beating #185 Bowling Green and #159 EMU. Loyola-MD is #309.

The Titans have lost to #88 Temple, #29 Butler, and #211 Western Michigan.

Of course, I don't think the algorithm takes momentum into account, and we can all see that the Titans have steadily improved each game and are a different team than the one that squeaked by Wayne State and lost to WMU just a few short weeks ago.

Our next three opponents, Kent State, Akron and Dayton are currently ranked #161, #130 and #94 respectively.

Of course, for a program like U of D, these rankings are more interesting than relevant, since the Horizon is a one-bid league and the conference tournament is everything. The Titans are still the third lowest-ranked team in the Horizon, behind #320 Youngstown State and #312 Cleveland State.

Another interesting fact - The Titans next 9 games are against teams from Ohio, 6 of them on the road.

On November 18 UDM was 295 in the Sagarin Ratings. Today UDM is 181. Kent State is 145 and line should be +/-1. Ohio 260 at home , and Toledo 80 and Akron 110 on the road. Challenging schedule.
