Did I miss something that it would be a Tobacco Road game? In which case I hope it's Wake because it's closer to me and I have a friend who is big in the Deacon Club and seats at midcourt.

Clemson can’t be the third ACC team because it’s already locked in as the first ACC team were playing. And one of the message board posters above apparently has knowledge of the remaining team and all but said it’s located in the state of North Carolina but doesn’t rhyme with “puke,” thus eliminating Duke as a possibility.

Michigan released its schedule today. Home games include Appalachian St., Elon, Houston Baptist, UMass-Lowell, and Presbyterian. It’s crazy we don’t play in Ann Arbor more often.

It’s North Carolina St. on November 10.

Here’s a comprehensive list of what’s been reported here and there, a few dates unconfirmed. Shaping up to be a very tough non-conference schedule.

@North Carolina St., Nov. 10
@Clemson, Nov. 17
@Wyoming, Nov. 19
TBD* (@MGM Main Event, Las Vegas) Nov. 25
TBD* (@MGM Main Event, Las Vegas) Nov. 27
@Ohio, Nov. 30
@Notre Dame, Dec. 10
Northeastern, Dec. 19
Eastern Michigan
Toledo, Dec. 14
@Gonzaga, Dec. 30
@Kent St.
S. Illinois-Edwardsville

Not sure if last two listed games are home or away, but I believe we owe a game to Kent in their gym.

*Cal-Irvine, Louisiana and Detroit Mercy constitute three of the four teams that will be in the Vegas tournament.

Northeastern has released their schedule. They will be in Detroit on December 19, maybe that will be the “Christmas at Calihan” game.

Also read elsewhere today that Coach Davis made recent remarks that indicated “we have signed another tough non-conference road game against a big name opponent and that we have one more non-conference schedule slot to fill.”

Anyone have knowledge or educated guesses as to how much we are getting paid for some of these away games?

Nothing specific to offer, but I’ve read numbers for buy games being in the range of $30K to $85K.

I wouldn’t be surprised to hear that we get more in net revenue from a single higher-end road deal than we get for the gate minus operating expenses for the entire home schedule. So having more of these buy games could generate significant additional dollars for the athletic program. With fewer home games another plus is that it might allow the marketing & promotions staff to double up efforts to pump the attendance for games against EMU, Toledo and Northeastern.

I believe we got $65,000 when we played UofM in Ann Arbor back in 2014.

This recent article suggests that the “going rate” is $80k plus hotel and travel. Short trips may pay less. http://www.amateursports365.com/article ... Games.html

Bacari told DennyCrane and myself we were to be paid 90,000 - 95,000 dollars for playing at UCLA a few years ago. Denny and I flew out to that game and watched the beatdown.

Does anyone know if it’s possible for teams to get a premium over the going rate if they have a marquee player like Antoine? My first guess is that schools have a set fee for hosting guarantee games but maybe not.

I don’t know, but I doubt it. In fact, I think having a player like Antoine would be a drawback for many guarantors. The “going rate” is just more or less what teams can expect. But the exact rate may depend on travel, how badly the guarantor and guarantee Exh need the game, etc. It may depend on whether the guarantor feels a need for a higher RPI (or now, NET) opponent. A lot of the power teams will sell out and make $$$ no matter the opponent, and what they want is a sure fire win. For those teams Antoine is dangerous because on any night he could go off for 46 points and we get an upset win. That would make us less attractive to some teams. Other guarantor teams with weaker fanbases that don’t guarantee sellouts may want him, though. So my guess is tha the answer to the question is “probably not, but it depends.”

“Probably not, but it depends” is actually a really great answer to half the questions one might encounter during law school. I guess the logic is you get less money for a guaranteed game that is less distance because in theory your fans might travel and enjoy the game?

I’m still surprised the NCAA allows the amount of travel that Bethune-Cookman does in the linked article above. Their MBB team is probably hardly on their own campus between the second week of November and final exams. Doesn’t seem good for the student athlete. They really should limit the number of non-con away games or cap the number of days missed per semester or miles traveled.
