The Erie Mason varsity basketball team won tonight’s home conference game against Blissfield by a score of 62-58.
Blissfield entered the game ranked #7 in Division 3, their record now stands at 14-2 (both losses I believe to Erie Mason).

Don’t know how many points Joey Liedel scored in the contest, but I did see a Tweet this evening congratulating him on reaching the 2,000-point plateau for his prep career.

Liedel put on a show last night. He was a maestro scoring 36 points with a bunch of assists, steals etc. against a good Onsted team. He has the innate ability to constantly look ahead and up the floor. He is very exciting to watch. If you can, try to catch him play in the districts home next week at Erie Mason!

Thanks Rogo for the update. I went to two of his games this year. I really like what I saw. I am hoping he is able to be as productive in the D1 level. It may take some time to make that type of jump with the type of athleticism defenders he will have to play against. He isn't super athletic but his court IQ, craftiness and long range will definitely make him a great piece on the court.

Erie Mason beat St. Mary Catholic Central tonight 77-66. Liedel had 22 points.

(FYI, the Michigan High School Athletic Association announced on Wednesday that all remaining winter postseason tournaments will continue as scheduled but it is finalizing plans that would either prohibit or only allow limited spectators at events.)

I’m honestly surprised they haven’t canceled the MHSAA tournament this year. Why put people, players and fans, at risk?

i wonder if joey is quick enough for d1? haven't seen him...
In Greek mythology, the Titans were greater even than the gods. They ruled their universe with absolute power! Well that basketball court out there tonight, that's our universe. Let's rule it like Titans! (with apologies to coach boon)

I would say that is a little relative..... not comparing him to this player, but how quick was Travis Bader? not very, but he could shoot the hell out of the ball.

Joey's shot helps provide him with quickness because of how a defender has to play him.

I was at last night's game, and he pretty much got past his primary defender whenever he wanted to, and that kid is an all-state soccer player who is quite quick.
