Jon Rothstein reported on twitter that they are joining the HL in 20-21 season and will be announced.

You know if it is on twitter it has to be true. I heard they are fact checking everything

Two six-team divisions? This is how I would set it up but would be interested in others’ thoughts.

East
Cleveland St.
Detroit Mercy
Oakland
Purdue-Fort Wayne
Robert Morris
Youngstown St.

West
Green Bay
IUPUI
Milwaukee
UIC
Northern Kentucky
Wright St.

This setup would keep three existing “rival” relationships (OU/UDM, WSU/NKU, GB/Mil.) together and sets the foundation for a RMU/YSU rivalry to develop.

I could see Ft. Wayne in the west and Wright in the East. That would pair Clv. St. with Wright; Ft Wayne with UIC and IUPUI with N. Ky.

The total distance between the travel partners I contemplated (OU/Detroit, YSU/RM, CSU/FW, WSU/NKU, GB/Milwaukee, IUPUI/UIC) is 655 total miles. For the alternate configuration you suggested, it’s just a tad bit higher, 687 miles.

Here’s how your alternate divisional lineup would look. It does have the desirable feature of keepIng all schools from the same state in the same division. Biggest downside IMO is that it would split up the league’s best rivalry, Wright St. and Northern Kentucky.

Horizon East (Pennsylvania, Michigan, Ohio)

Cleveland St.
Detroit Mercy
Oakland
Robert Morris
Wright St.
Youngstown St.

Horizon West (Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Wisconsin)
Green Bay
IUPUI
Milwaukee
Purdue-Fort Wayne
UIC
Northern Kentucky

As usual, Tony Paul writes off the Titans:

Its addition could, someday, help make the Horizon League be what it most wants to be — a multi-bid basketball conference. That'll be contingent, of course, on others in the league, particularly Northern Kentucky, Wright State, Oakland and even UIC,

But based on the last 7 years, I don't know that we deserve better.
