Games 7 & 8 - Versus Oakland

Originally, we were supposed to play IUPUI this weekend at Calihan Hall. Those games were canceled by the HL when IUPUI had problems with COVID and shut down the program for two weeks.

This afternoon, the HL announced that it had canceled the NKU-Oakland games set for this weekend at Oakland.

Will we now be the replacement for NKU since we were scheduled to play at Oakland later this season anyway? That's what happened last weekend when IUPUI had to cancel its games at PFW.

Both games on ESPN3.

In a late-breaking development, UIC (Oakland’s last opponent) temporarily suspended MBB operations earlier today because of Covid. That could be a factor in whether the OU-UDM games are played as scheduled this weekend.

For now at least, Tony Paul has the Titans ranked third in the Statewide power rankings of D-1 teams. Older fans will remember that UD consistently held this spot, and occasionally higher, in the years before accepting a conference downgrade in 1994.

Not sure I've seen an uglier college basketball game in my life.

I'm sure I have, just can't remember when.

Noah Waterman started the game, seemed comfortable on the floor, scored 6 of his 8 points, I think, and we led at halftime. Then, in the second half, he played only sparingly and we lost the lead midway thru the period. Koka played a lot, managing one free throw and one dunk but grabbing 8 rebounds. Rose played a lot as well and didn't score. We were consistently beaten by an Oakland big man left alone under the basket. The coaches appeared not to notice this.

For a lot less than the millions the university spends on basketball they could achieve the same result by buying time in the media and having someone read out, "The Detroit Mercy, or whatever they want to be called now, Titans lost again."
The university dropped football because it lost $65,000 per year in 1964 dollars (about $550,000 now), played in an old building, drew only around 12,000 fans per game, and couldn't compete against the bigger schools. Basketball may meet the same fate...

From my perspective; your comments really hit the mark!

Going forward; I would like to see more minutes allocated to Waterman and Brandon.
