New Assistant Coach

Karic Jones is reporting at horizoneroundtable.com that we had a new assistant coach on the bench at Oakland to replace Keith LeGree who had left the staff for personal reasons before last September. The new assistant is Mark Montgomery, the former head coach at Northern Illinois, assistant coach at MSU and CMU and a former player at MSU. He will also help with local recruiting.

Good hire for us. The former Southgate Aquinas star is a solid addition to our staff.

I agree! I’ve always felt that was one one thing missing from Mike Davis’s staff, a good local connection for an assistant coach. And somebody who can recruit since apparently Mike Davis doesn’t like to recruit and presumably relies on his assistants.

In yesterday's virtual roundball luncheon, Coach Davis confirmed that Mark Montgomery is a new assistant.
