Oakland made it to the finals, we didn’t. They easily beat NKU who we lost to.

Kampe did not choke. A month ago, the Vikings swept OU at the Orena, 80-72 and 80-78. Clearly, CSU was the better team; and, that showed on the neutral court.

OU and NKU did benefit from a ridiculous HL seeding formula that, in effect, rewarded those teams that caught COVID early and then were able to play all or most of their league games. They received preferential treatment over other members like us and UIC that struggled with COVID-related issues later in December. Recall that UIC got COVID after its first weekend series vs Oakland that was officiated by a COVID-infected referee. The following weekend, over our objections, the HL required us to play the extra series vs Oakland at Calihan. Afterwards, a series of events cascaded and deprived us of 4 road games, the absence of which the HL used to rationalize seeding us 5th even though we had a better winning percentage than OU and NKU.

It is very clear that the HL wanted its 4 favorite teams to reach the semifinals. Those teams are CSU, WSU, OU, and defending champion NKU. Except WSU choked against Milwaukee and the Panthers almost spoiled the HL's plan by having CSU on the ropes for most of the semifinal game. By using a secret formula to force us to play at NKU, the HL stacked the deck to give the Norse a second chance at reaching the NCAAs after it lost that chance last season when the NCAA canceled the tourney.

Regardless of all else, I hope CSU has a good run in the tournament and that pays us dividends down the road.

No. Against the odds, we had a chance to win and failed to convert. That said, NKU was 9-4 at home and 5-6 on the road. Then, they were defeated convincingly at the Indy Coliseum. They received the benefit of their clear home court advantage. By our W-L percentage, we earned a home game in the quarterfinals. Through its secret seeding formula, the HL said otherwise.

I don't worry about OU any more. The worm began to turn in the second half on January 22nd. On the two rosters, I'll be watching who is added more than who is leaving. Which team improves more than the other? When the NCAA-sanctioned transfer dust settles, I think we will be the more improved team. OOOOOfffff course!!!!!
