Valpo Catches a Break

Postby Commissioner » Thu Aug 02, 2012 10:39 pm

Valpo got stronger this week as the NCAA granted SG/SF Alex Rossi a waiver from the transfer rule, allowing Rossi, a transfer from Cal, to play immediately. Rossi, who is from the Chicago suburbs, took an injury RS season his first year at Cal, and was hurt much of last season as well, playing in just 3 games. He announced in April he would be returning home for "private family issues" and eventually chose Valpo over Northwestern and Loyola. After two years of idleness due to injuries, we'll have to see how good Rossi is. But he was highly sought after out of high school, a top 100 recruit in many lists, and it's not that he washed out at Cal - he was injured.

With Rossi added to Ryan Broekhoff and Kevin Van Wijk, the "killer bees" of Buggs, Boggs, and Bogan, Indiana transfer Bobby Capobianco, returning starting guard Matt Kenney, 6'11" Jamaican Center Vashil Fernandez, and a couple of other transfer guards in Jordan Coleman from Hawaii and Lavonte Dority from South Florida, who becomes eligible in January, Valpo is going to be very tough to beat.
