NIH awards $21.2 million grant to UDM and three Detroit schools

Detroit — Oct. 22, 2014 — A consortium of University of Detroit Mercy, Marygrove College, Wayne County Community College District and Wayne State University has been awarded $21.2 million over five years by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to implement a program encouraging more undergraduate students from underrepresented and economically disadvantaged backgrounds to pursue careers in biomedical research.

UDM is the grant's primary institution responsible for managing the grant. UDM faculty will provide research opportunities and mentorship for program undergraduates.
