Livernois Lager

Postby Rogobob77 » Tue May 03, 2016 8:52 am

New Ferndale brewery and beer garden, a couple miles north of campus, will offer "Livernois Lager":

This could develop into a conveniently located post-game spot to celebrate a Titans victory.

glad to see ongoing redevelopment.
In Greek mythology, the Titans were greater even than the gods. They ruled their universe with absolute power! Well that basketball court out there tonight, that's our universe. Let's rule it like Titans! (with apologies to coach boon)

Livernois Lager is now available:

http://axlebrewing.com/wordpress/our-beers/

A description:

Livernois Lager is a golden beer that fits stylistically into the Dortmunder Export category. Unlike a hoppy Pilsner or the malt forward Munich Helles or Bocks, this lager is balanced, poised and clean. In the place of Eastern European “noble” hops, we have sourced a homegrown Michigan-only proprietary hop strain called Empire. This hop provides a mellow, floral and spicy backdrop to make this beer incredibly refreshing.

Historically, this beer was brewed to quench the thirst of laborers toiling at the dawn of the industrial revolution. So, we figured it would be a great idea to share our modern take on an old world classic with the many laborers working hard to build our new brewery and tap room on beautiful Livernois Avenue!

5.3% ABV

There is some info on the Livernois Tap & Brewery at the following link. The Detroit Free Press article suggests the new place will open sometime in February:

Stopped by the site this afternoon to take a peek and got to meet owner Dan Riley. He was nice enough to chat with me for awhile, and it was great to hear his vision for Livernois Tap. Also had an opportunity to meet Dave Vermiglio who will oversee the kitchen operations side of the business. Should open sometime in May. Looks like it will be a great place to have a Livernois Lager before or after a Titan game.

Made it to Saturday's grand opening of Livernois Tap. This will be a great place to gather before and after Titan games.

At this year's Homecoming (September 30), there will be a beer garden featuring selections from North Center Brewing Company (Northville establishment owned/operated by a Detroit Mercy alum) and Axle Brewing Company (operators of the new Livernois Tap in Ferndale).

Perhaps we can have an official or unofficial gathering of Titan fans and/or the DetroitTitanHoops message board family at Livernois Tap after one of the early Titan soccer games. In September, men's soccer has early Saturday afternoon home games against UIC (9/9 at 2:00 pm) and Belmont (9/23 at 1:00 pm).
