Postby Rogobob77 » Mon Jul 20, 2020 11:47 am

There’s a report on one of the college basketball Twitter sites (basketball writer Jeff Goodman) that Justin Thomas will transfer from Morehead St. to “Detroit” for the coming season. It’s my understanding that if this were to become “official,” he would be a grad transfer, immediately eligible. Here’s Thomas’s bio:

AS A SENIOR (2019-2020)

Appeared in 30 games and started in 29. Thomas averaged 8.5 points per game, Averaged 5.2 rebounds per game, and was 44.2 percent from the field. Tied his season high with 18 points against Alice Lloyd (12/28) and Eastern Illinois (1/11). Had an assist to turnover ratio of 2.0

AS A JUNIOR (2018-19)

Sat out the season due to NCAA transfer rules.

AS A SOPHOMORE (At Northern Illinois 2017-18)

Appeared in all 32 games, including 16 starts … Averaged 6.0 points, 2.8 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game … Shot 44.7 percent (68-of-152) from the field and 38.9 percent (21-of-54) from three-point range … Averaged a team-best 1.3 steals per game to rank 9th in the Mid-American Conference …Had a season-high 17 points against Buffalo … Recorded a season-high eight rebounds at Kent State … Led NIU in assists 13 times.

AS A FRESHMAN (At Northern Illinois 2016-17)

Appeared in all 32 games, making 17 starts … Averaged 1.3 steals per game in conference play, tied for 12th in the MAC and second among league freshmen … Averaged 4.0 points and 1.7 rebounds per contest … Shot 47 percent from the field (47-of-100) … Recorded 37 assists and 34 steals … Averaged 17.0 minutes per game … Had 11 multi-steal games … Led NIU in steals 12 times … Scored in double figures twice, including a season-high 12 points at Indiana State … Recorded a season-high six rebounds at Minnesota … Registered a season-high five assists against Olivet Nazarene.

HIGH SCHOOL

Averaged 15.5 points, 3.9 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 2.6 steals per game as a senior at Pike High School in 2015-16 … Earned Indiana Associated Press High Honorable Mention recognition … Named to the 2016 Indiana Basketball Coaches Association Senior Large School All-State team … Helped lead Pike to 50 wins in three seasons, including a pair of sectional titles, and finished his prep career with 960 points.

sounds like he can give us valuable minutes
In Greek mythology, the Titans were greater even than the gods. They ruled their universe with absolute power! Well that basketball court out there tonight, that's our universe. Let's rule it like Titans! (with apologies to coach boon)

Thomas is one of 205 players who had previously declared for the 2020 NBA draft.

The young must have confidence in his ability considering his stat sheet looks mediocre. I’ll hope for solid leadership and consistency from a grad transfer.

There must've been a reason he played 32 minutes per game.
