Well if there is two sides to the story its long overdue. Its 4 weeks and nothing from Mr. Vowels. We now have 7 WBB players in the transfer portal. If the AD has another side of this sad saga lets hear it. IMO

Sadly, we now have nine woman's BB players in the transfer portal. When will we hear "the other side of the story".?? Recruiting opens soon with no resolution in sight. Painful to see this drag on.

Detroit Mercy women’s basketball coach AnnMarie Gilbert will remain as head coach, the school announced.

“The University has implemented additional measures to ensure that the women’s basketball program operates consistently within the core values and mission of Detroit Mercy.”

What a f***ing mess. We now have 11 of 14 players in the transfer portal. Unlike Cincinnati who fired their mens coach in a week after player allegations, we continue to receive no meaningful response from the AD. I interpret the AD's failure to disclose as nothing but concealment on his part in what transpired.. If the parents were wrong, please tell us why!

To: 1975SHjoe - the AD can't disclose anything because the parents went around him from the get-go and sent a copy of their January 17th letter to NCAA enforcement. This triggers a confidentiality requirement on the part of the school and the NCAA until the NCAA completes the process of reviewing the report of the outside investigator hired by the school. After reviewing the investigator's findings, the school has decided to retain Gilbert. That ought to tell you a whole lot here. Under these circumstances, would you expect the mutineers to remain here? Even Fletcher Christian, who staged a successful mutiny on The Bounty, could not return to England.

To PC in response to your comments about the students being mutineers IMO is very harsh. Are you dismissing all their concerns? What I did expect is leadership from the AD. The fact that 13 of 14 are leaving is not mutiny, its a cry about injustice and more. Their should have been a better approach to resolving this. As a starter has the "Supervisor of WBB been fired"?. Its happened before at other institutions and resolved to every ones satisfaction, but not here.. The few quotes attributed to the AD sounds like he supported the coach all along and was unable / unwilling to find middle ground. Big Chuck gave you his thoughts on this on the other board. Todays Fee Press has another article unfavorable to the University. The negative publicity will never be repaired. If my daughter was being recruited by UDM I am sure other coaches will bring this issue to the student and her parents attention. This will not go away. The track record of our AD is not stellar by any measure. The recent negative history of men's basketball, woman's Lacrosse (2019/20 coach dismissed). At a minimum the AD should have addressed his financial supporters with a letter why he cancelled the season, a detailed list of what changes have been implemented to address student concerns, for starters. For now, after 45 years of financial support, I choose not to invest my money in UDM athletics. Enough is enough.
